This is a dedicated system for patients undergoing external radiation treatments of the head and neck region. The system uses a perforated thermoplastic molding material. It's safe and easy to use when softened in temperature controlled water, and can be silicone sealed using polycarbonate plastic reusable frames. With no preparation to be done to the patient, the U-Frame can easily be draped over the patient's face and secured by four (4) quick release clamps. Alignment pegs are seated for precision repositioning, and the thermoplastic molding material can be shaped to conform to treatment adaptation and patient comfort.
Added feature: The APHS-1 and the APHS-2 have a milled-out area in the superior portion of each unit. This milled-out area can be seated onto the Exact Bar of the Varian Accelerator Exact Couch.

If you prefer to use disposable U-Frames, you'll like the VIP 1764s. Although the size states 8" x 9", it refers to only the back side of the frame. The patient coverage remains the same. The look is different because of the rounded upper corners, made special for VIP. We have drilled two additional peg seating holes 2.7 cms above the regular peg seating hole. This "extra" hole will allow positioning the mold close to the apex of the head plus additional coverage below the chin. See the photo below.

Prone Positioning Accessory
A soft foam vinyl covered prone positioner made to assist patients in a prone head position.
Pad size: 8 ½" x 6 ½" x ½" |
The pad is attached with Velcro to a 3/8" thick polycarbonate plastic frame with a cutout for the patient's face and two 1/4" holes for securing onto the base plate. Safe and easily cleaned. Constructed for the APHS II Immobilization Unit, but may possibly be modified for other units. (CIVCO/MEDTEC, Inc.)
