SILKY ROCK
This material is used to produce solid patient facial molds post alginate impression material.
Silky Rock powder, when mixed with regular tap water, forms a “rock-like” solid mold.
After hardening of the mold, thin sheets of lead can be placed onto the section/treatment
interest with a small hammer, and contoured into the shape needed.
Small rounded end instruments(s) can shape the smaller contoured areas such as the nose/eye.
Small wooden dowels are sometimes used for this purpose by simply sanding the ends to a convex shape.
